During the bike trip in May/June life became a little more unconnected from the spine of technology. How healthy, to let go, stop connecting to everyone at their requests and just live. Biking became the most important daily activity.
Christen and I completed a 1,600 mile bicycle trip on June 15th. We pedaled over the Sierra Nevadas, the Siskiyou’s, the Cascades twice, and then the Rockies in Canada and into Montana. It was a crazy trip. Lots of climbs brings lots of speedy decents. The NW is rainy and turns out still full of snow in May/June. A live-learn experience!
Those two months of travel, the 27 days of pedaling brought a multitude of fantastic people into our path. Conversations spurred more thought to travel and spun us with energy. There are so many great people in this world. That bike trip….Taught me patience, endurance of pain, the joy of accomplishment and so much about living.
We dipped our tires to complete our trip in Whitefish Lake and spent days exploring Whitefish and Glacier National Park. And since June 15, life has been in a whirlwind.
Back to Colorado for time with friends, hiking and mtn biking. Then off to Iowa for the famous 4th of July parade in Northwood. July was hot, steamy..sauna like, so deciding to paint a house during that month was silly. But it is done. From that, I can take away countless lessons of life from a wonderful 94yr old lady, who lives for the day and enjoys the smallest gestures of kindness. She once said “I just love everyone, everyone is special.” Head nodding and smiles lit up the room. The olympics are also great reminders of this….love everyone. As VISA says it { GO WORLD }
Its August now. I’m back in Colorado. After a short trip to da UP of Michigan and a crazy 10 year class reunion. The mountains are singing, rejoicing with life. I intend on spending as much time with them as possible. So, hopefully you and I can share some ‘unconnected’ moments of truly living today, tomorrow and during the next week.
