into Arizona we roll

Luck is on our side. We rolled through Cali’s agriculture land, then onto the desert where there was wasn’t anything at all, and then into this desert oasis of 100,000 acres of sand dunes. Because it was in the middle of nowwhere’ the one store-community charged what they wanted….we paid 2.25 for a Snickers.

Last night we rolled, very exhaustedly, into Palo Verde’s camp ground area where we met a group of friendly RV’rs. By the end of the night they’d given us a ride to the store, made us a steak dinner and served bread pudding as dessert.

People, we’re living off Mac and cheese w tuna…..so we ate 2nds and 3rds!

We woke up to an owl this morning, watched hawks drop on prey over fields of broccoli as workers hand picked the 25 acre field. We crossed into AZ today, climbed more mtns, gave money to a hitchhiker because we couldn’t offer a ride and have now landed ourselves in the middle of nowwhere desert near Brenda, AZ.

Cheers to a great couple hundred miles in Cali! 2 days til Phoenix!

The fun never stops with you. My Dad is bringing me the copy of the Des Moines Register with the story about you and your cross-country trip. I’ll give it to Joan, who will pass it on to your Dad or G’ma Mave. I have a BE friend who just started a blog on Word Press, so it must be the way to go. Big hug to you and Tim. Ride Safe! Lill

  2. Wow! Good stuff… sounds like a memorable trip already, and you’ve only just begun! Thanks for sharing all this stuff… I can’t wait to hear more! 🙂
