What do you want to do today?

That’s the question that Tim asks me every morning.  So I smile, clip in my feet and respond “I want to ride my bicycle, you!?”

6% grade climb for a VERY long way up

Yesterday we climbed.  Climbed.  And climbed, up Superior mountains at a fast speed of 6mph.  We went through our first tunnel, lights on, in  a pack formation and when it was just us inside of it, we were fine.  But when the semi’s started charging through, it sounded like we were getting bombed by mig jets.  WOW, it was scary.

Queen Creek Tunnel

We went up, up to 4,600 ft and then went down at 40mph into Claypool.  Where we sat outside the grocery store twiddling our thumbs trying to find a place to sleep.  With advice from a local, we went to the Tri-City firehouse, met Gabe and Vondo and next thing we know, had permission from them and the Sherriff’s department to sleep on the HS football field.

Vondo and Gabe from Tri-City Fire Dept....THANK YOU!

50 yard line camping

And yes, we camped on the 50 yard line.  Showered in the firehouse and slept like babies!
