We roll into Alpine, TX with a wipping tailwind and are happy to see a bike shop. Off our bikes and two steps later we meet Tim who lives in Alpine on the weekends. Next thing we know, out tent is set up in his back yard, we’re out to dinner with him and Kaci and then making plans to use his Surburban to drive 110 miles to Big Bend National park and stay in Kaci’s stunning hotel in Terilingua for the night.
Something we both wanted to do but decided that this was a bike trip, not National Park tour. However, when someone offers their car and then the person next to them offers you a night in a boutique hotel in a National Park, you don’t say no.

Sooooo happy to be alive. Felt like we were traveling at MACH 10 since we were in a car again..weird.
These are beautiful snapshots, Hailee!!! AWESOME!!! What a spooky story about the stranger offering his yard!! Always friendly folk if they are doing yard work! Ask Grandma!
bye love jjq
You’re kidding me. That image is awesome. I can almost imagine all of the pedaling being worth it….
Wow! That hotel looks incredible as does your images of the Park. Go Thinker!
Hey Y’all! I am so glad y’all made it to the park and got to see the beauty of west Texas. Thanks for having a beer with us at the Harry’s Bar. Be safe now
