It being our most favorite riding day of the adventure because of rolling hills, jumping deer, turkey dances and the winding river, we decided it be a must we jump in the Guadelupe to celebrate.
10 miles to go for the day and we a perfect spot, that wasn’t privately owned or property of a summer camp. We pull over at the same time as 3 vehicles.
High schoolers got out, one directed the other to back the truck in, he grabbed the rope, jumped on top of his buddies truck and launched himself from 25 feet up into the beautiful green/blue spring fed river.
It took Tim about 2 seconds to climb up there and do the same, yet when it was my turn, I saw trees, hard ground and felt loose hands. Though just ‘jumping’ felt exhilarating, we both found out quickly what water up the nose feels like!
The kids looked at us like we were crazy. Bike shorts and going into the river!?!?! We explained and you could see the ‘who are these creeps’ look fall from their faces!
Great great great day of riding,….from Lost Maples campground to Comfort TX.
